State Administrated Health Insurance Programs: AllKids

What is the All Kids? All Kids Program is a complete Medicaid health care program for every uninsured child in Illinois. According to the statistics more then quarter of million children in Illinois do not have health insurance. That is not right, that’s why Illinois is the first state in the nation to ensure that every child, regardless of immigration status, medical conditions or family income, has access to health care. All Kids covers all the health care a child may need. All Kids program pays for doctor visits, hospital stays, dental care, visions care, prescription.

Who can get All Kids?

  • Children have to be 18 years old or younger
  • Must be an Illinois residents
  • Children must be uninsured for 12 month to get All Kids
  • Children who had or have health insurance can qualify for All Kids as long as your family income meets certain limits.

All Kids Costs

Some families get All Kids free. Some families have to pay premiums and co-payments for All Kids health insurance. What you pay will depend on your income. Monthly Premiums- is a dollar amount you might have to pay for your children to get All Kids. If you are qualify for All Kids Assist or All Kids Share programs you will not have to pay a premium to maintain All Kids coverage.

FamilyCare Programs are available for parents raising children 18 years old and younger. Certain relatives who are raising children in place of the children’s parents may also be eligible. To qualify for Family Care program immigration status does apply for adults (must be US citizen or have a permanent visa “Green Card” for at least 5 years) and must have countable family income for FamilyCare Assist at or below 133% of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL); and above 133% and at or below 150% of the FPL for FamilyCare Share Programs.

Rebate Programs

All Kids Rebate Program is available to help families pay for their private insurance. Rebate pays families a monthly rebate if they have children age 18 or younger that are covered by private health insurance, including health insurance through an employer. To be eligible for a Rebate program, a child must have countable family income above 133% and at or below 200% of the FPL. The private or employer-sponsored health insurance must cover physician and hospital inpatient services.

Moms & Babies program

Moms & Babies is a program for pregnant women and their babies. Moms & Babies pays for both outpatient and inpatient hospital services for women while they are pregnant, and 60 days after the baby is born. All pregnant uninsured women regardless of immigration status can get Moms & Babies program if their family income is below 200% FPL. If you are pregnant and your current insurance policy is not covering maternity you do not need to cancel your medical policy in order to get Moms & Babies coverage.

Usually it takes up to 45 days to receive a medical card. If you need to go to see a doctor sooner you can apply for temporally medical card.
